Pastor Palencia was brought to the Lutheran church through Pastor Pedro Bullón while both were studying in the evangelical seminary in south Lima. Formerly a member of the Assembly of God, Andrés was a lay pastor of the Belén congregation for one year. He graduated from the CBT and is now studying for a degree in the Science of Religion at the local university while at the same time ministering to Emaús, a small Lutheran community in the north of Lima. Andrés and Carmen Valadares celebrated their marriage in the Belén congregation and in January became the parents of Alison.
